Meet Dena Sweeney

Candidate for Parkside Borough Council

Deena Sweeney

Believes in building unity and preserving Parkside’s small-town charm

Runs on the principle: “People over politics” – ready to serve everyone, not just a few

Dena Sweeney has called Parkside home for over 30 years, raising her family here alongside her husband of 34 years, Mike Sweeney. A proud mother, animal lover, and community advocate, Dena brings a deep-rooted passion for service and a heart for inclusion to her candidacy for Borough Council.

Though currently disabled, Dena devotes her time and energy to volunteer work, the arts, and making a difference where it matters most. She has served on the Parkside Recreation Board for over five years and currently sits on the Parkside Zoning Board. Known for her creativity, Dena lends her artistic talents to painting murals, crafting signs, and creating fun projects for kids in the community. She also fosters bottle-fed kittens, believing deeply in the power of compassion—for people and animals alike.

Dena is running for Council to be a voice for those who feel overlooked, to tackle the real problems facing residents, and to help preserve the small-town spirit that makes Parkside so special. She believes in community over partisanship and proudly lives by her favorite quote:
"People over politics."

“I don’t care what party anyone is,” Dena says. “I will proudly serve everyone. We all have something to bring to the table.”
