Meet Nadine Brandt

Candidate for Mayor of Parkside Borough

Nadine Brandt brings creativity, compassion, and a strong sense of purpose to her candidacy for Mayor of Parkside.

Presently, Nadine is in her tenth year as the librarian at Parkside Elementary School, following two years as a dedicated volunteer. She is happy to work with children and be someone they can trust, confide in, and feel safe around. She also serves in a leadership position within the Penn-Delco School District’s education personnel union, advocating for the people who support our schools.

          A borough resident for the past 13 years, Nadine moved to Parkside as a newly single mother with her then six-year-old. After searching for a safe, child-friendly neighborhood within a good school system, she found Parkside to be a welcoming community.  She credits the neighborhood adults and friends who were influential in his upbringing. Her son is her proudest achievement, having graduated from Sun Valley High School and is now a U.S. Marine.  The value of supporting each other is immeasurable.

Originally from Delaware County, Nadine spent two decades living in New York City, working as a textile designer, artist, studio manager and design salesperson in the fashion industry.  Residing in an international city opens one's eyes to people, cultures, languages, and ideologies from all over the world.  

Several years working at stone fabrication facilities was a good fit for her interest in geology.  Various positions in this high-end business expanded her knowledge of the home building industry.

          Nadine is deeply passionate about the environment, animal welfare, and community care. She lives with two amusing cats and firmly believes life is better with pets. She doesn’t step on bugs, loves snakes, enjoys the cool air of autumn and a film that will make her cry. Her values reflect a belief that everyone—especially children—deserves to grow up in a world that’s safe, inclusive, and clean.  A place where people can be their true selves and flourish.

          As mayor, Nadine will rely on her life’s experiences and varied background to strengthen the spirit of neighborly support in Parkside. She is running toconnect the residents with each other through community projects, make sure that their concerns are relayed to the council and ensure that the police and fire departments continue to be valued entities. Parkside needs to be a place where people can thrive, no matter where they are from or their beliefs.
